BTC rating (Butt-Tip Curve rating) is a measured test, which rates the performance power of a rod. The BTC is determined by applying weight to pull the rod tip through its natural curve to compress the rod by 1/3rd of its total length at 90° to the butt section. This is the point at which the optimum performance of a rod is reached and is typical of its bend when casting, striking and ultimately landing a fish.
